Below are loads of facts about social media, specifically YouTube and Facebook and Twitter, with some general technology facts thrown in there as well.
YouTube Facts Social media sharing site YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world, just after its big brother Google, with millions of hours of video being added every month. Oh yeah, and probably the most mind blowing fact is that it would take more than the life span of a Time Lord (a Time Lord has 13 bodies, so when one dies they regenerate into a new one) to watch all of YouTube's growing number of videos - all 1,750 (approx) years of it!

| | Facebook and Twitter Facts If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest in the world, bigger than the US, but just smaller than China and India. This country of a website has over 60 million status updates every day. The average Facebook user creates 70 pieces of content every month.
On its social rival, Twitter, some celebrities have more followers than the entire population of Ireland. The majority of companies (around 3 in 4) use social media for recruitment.
General Technology Facts Radio took 38 years to reach 50 million users, television took 13, but the internet took a mere 4. 4 years to reach 50 million users, that is quick! Apple iPod application downloads hit 1 billion in under a year. Wikipedia has over 15 million articles, with around 41,000 new articles being added every day. |
My blog is one of over 200,000,000 blogs on the internet. Almost 80% of consumers trust what bloggers and social media users say when reviewing products and services, but less that 15% trust advertisements. Finally a bit of a sad fact for the good old book, eBooks are now outselling paper books in the shops.
So then to sum up: social media, it's not just a fad!
