Google InstantThe search giant Google have recently released yet another improvement to try and speed up searching. The improvement has been named Google Instant and is a massive leap forward in search engine capability.
|What Google Instant does is provide you with search results, whilst you are still typing your query. Google says that this is "search at the speed of thought". A little odd if you think about it, as it means that Google sort of knows what you want before you have fully typed and searched for it!|
Google is currently having a real drive to make the internet faster, and this is yet another example of how they are doing it - Chrome being another.
One of Google's main rivals in the search market Microsoft Bing, does not currently have anything that could even begin to match Google's new instant search. However there has been fears rivalry between the two search engines for some time now, and I don't think it will be long until Bing catches on and brings out its own version of results whilst you type.
|I think this as like I have mentioned before in other articles, in the computing market, whenever anyone has a good idea, someone else is hot on their tails with producing their own version of it. A great example of this is Bing's daily image on its homepage. Google now too offers an optional background image on its homepage.
|Google Instant is only compatible with the latest versions of browsers, so if you are using an older version, its probably a good time to upgrade! I have used Google instant myself and it does speed up search times, just like Google says it does.|
Google Instant is yet another way in with the web is getting faster, what will the next improvement be?
|Google Instant is a new search enhancement that shows results as you type. We are pushing the limits of our technology and infrastructure to help you get better search results, faster.|
